Advanced Technology to Protect Your Smile
Cavities and other dental concerns do not always exhibit symptoms until your tooth has suffered extensive damage. During your biannual appointments, Dr. Foust will use the latest technology to look for the early warning signs of decay, gum disease, and other conditions. If needed, she can take early action to halt these problems and save your smile.
What to Expect during Your Dental Checkup
During your biannual checkup and cleaning, Dr. Foust will conduct a complete oral examination. First, she will do a visual exam, looking for any structural damage. She will also check for any tissue irregularities that could signal oral cancer. After this initial exam, she may use our advanced technology to check your dental alignment, and look for damage inside your teeth. Our imaging tools include:
- Intraoral cameras: These tiny cameras are attached to a handheld wand. They can gather a detailed image of your individual teeth showing even the tiniest cracks, and signs of decay.
- Digital x-rays: Like standard film x-rays, our digital imaging system can show a single tooth or full dental arch. Unlike traditional x-rays, however, our images can be greatly magnified on a computer screen. They are also efficient and involve little to no radiation exposure.
The Importance of Dental Checkups
Dental checkups can catch decay and gum disease in the early stages. Without these routine exams damage will get worse, and it could eventually cause significant discomfort, tooth loss, and even jaw recession. Dental checkups can prevent the need for extensive restorative care. They can also protect your smile, facial structure, and self-confidence.
Dental Checkup Candidates
If you want to enjoy a beautiful smile and full dental function, then you are a candidate for a checkup. There is no age limit for checkups. Children should visit the dentist as soon as their first teeth appear. As an adult, you should continue to visit the dentist even if you have dentures or implants. Dr. Foust and her team want to keep your smile healthy and beautiful for life.
