Regular Care for Healthy Teeth and Gums
As you know, it is important to keep your teeth and gums clean. However, brushing and flossing cannot remove the harmful plaque and tartar that may accumulate on your teeth. For optimal dental health and a beautiful smile, it is important to schedule biannual cleanings at Dental Impressions.
What to Expect during Your Dental Cleaning
At your appointment, one of our two outstanding hygienists will carefully clean your teeth, removing all plaque, tartar, and bacteria. They work very gently to ensure your comfort and protect your sensitive gum tissue. During your exam, Dr. Foust will look for signs of periodontal disease. If it’s determined that you suffer from this condition, a scaling and root planing will be performed. With this procedure, pockets of bacteria will be removed from your gums. If needed, your gums may be treated with antibiotics to prevent the bacteria from returning. Your dental roots will also be smoothed to prevent bacteria from reforming.
Why Are Dental Cleanings Important?
Without proper cleanings, bacteria, plaque, and tartar will lead to dental decay and significant discoloration. Regular care can prevent serious discomfort, tooth loss, and other damage. It can also preserve the integrity of your smile so that you will not require extensive restorative treatment.
Is a Dental Cleaning Right for You?
Adults and children of all ages will benefit from dental cleanings. If you want to enjoy a lovely smile and healthy self-confidence, then you are a candidate for a cleaning. This treatment is also suitable for very young children.
