More than 65 million people in the U.S. regularly care for a sick or elderly loved one. These people, called caregivers, are honored during the month of November for National Family Caregivers Month.
What is National Family Caregivers Month (NFCM)?
Family, friends, and neighbors who invest all of their free time to help their loved ones deserve some appreciation. Although these caregivers provide their services for free, the value of their care services is estimated at $375 billion per year. The average caregiver spends about 20 hours a week caring for their loved ones. NFCM raises awareness about the importance of caregiving and honors those who are caregivers. Show the caregivers you know how much you appreciate their work and help by providing a meal, providing care while they take an evening off, or doing their errands for a day.
Rosalyn Carter once said, “There are only four kinds of people in the world – those who have been caregivers, those who are currently caregivers, those who will be caregivers, and those who will need caregivers.” At some point in your life, you will need someone to take care of you, and you can return the favor by taking care of others today.
Keeping Families Together
Just like caregiving, oral health is guided by family members. Parents need to help their children learn proper hygiene techniques. On the other hand, children may need to help their elderly parents with dental care when arthritis and medications make dental health difficult. Dr. Foust offers family dental care for people of all ages. She can take care of you, your children, your grandparents, and everyone else you love. Dr. Foust will work with you to deliver healthy smiles to your family.
