What To Do When Dental Hygiene Is Boring

So, you’re not necessarily against performing your dental hygiene. You’re not skipping sessions or avoiding it but you are feeling like you’re tired of the daily routine. Perhaps you wish you could do something to infuse the twice-daily sessions with some sort of new life, so you feel a little bit excited about your morning and evening experience (instead of like you’re dealing with an auto-pilot approach). If this pretty closely describes what you’re going through, we encourage you to try out a few tips to see if they make your time in front of the bathroom sink just a bit more inspiring.

Change Up Your Products

Sometimes just changing up one product can make all the difference in the world. Then again, you’re free to change up as much as you’d like as long as you’re still brushing and flossing consistently and effectively. Consider spicing up your dental hygiene by trying out a new brush or choosing a new toothpaste flavor (or maybe using a variety to keep things interesting).

Add Some Tunes

If there’s something somewhat mind-numbing to you about staring at yourself in the mirror for two minutes straight while you brush (or watching a timer as it counts down), try this: Find a song that you love and turn it on. Create a “dental hygiene playlist” and use it throughout the week. Melody has the ability to completely transform an experience.

Give Yourself A Reward

Maybe it’s not so much that you feel dental hygiene is boring but that you would like a little bit more than your healthy smile as your reward. Of course, a healthy grin is a wonderful result of your hard work. However, if it helps you to also promise yourself a dessert at the end of a week of consistent hygiene (or better yet, a new dental product like an electric toothbrush for long-term goal setting), then go for it!
