One of the things we encourage most at our practice is for our patients to ask questions. While we find that patients are often comfortable asking questions about problems and big concepts, they’re not always as forthcoming with questions about dental hygiene and issues they think are less important. The truth is, everything that goes into protecting your oral health is equally important (particularly the method through which you protect your smile for the majority of the year). So, ask away!
“Am I doing this right?”
Want us to give you a thumbs up on your technique? Just ask! We would love to review to ensure you’re brushing and flossing correctly.
“Which products should I buy?”
It can feel a little overwhelming to stand in the dental hygiene aisle, taking in the extraordinarily vast array of options before you. Instead of feeling like you’re at a complete loss, ask us for some direction. We will be more than happy to make suggestions and guide you toward choices that will benefit your oral health.
“Why isn’t this working?”
Perhaps you are doing what you think is best for your smile but one or multiple aspects of your dental hygiene doesn’t seem to be paying off. Instead of feeling defeated, simply ask us. Chances are good there’s a simple explanation and an even easier fix that you’re just overlooking.
“Shouldn’t this work?”
You might not understand something we tell you. Not because you don’t comprehend it but because it goes against your natural instincts. For instance, you may assume hard brushing will get your teeth the cleanest, when in fact, soft brushing gets them clean and won’t harm your teeth. Ask us why it’s bad to brush hard (or any other questions), so we can thoroughly explain.
