Are you an OWL? In the language of the Polk County Conservation, OWLS are Older, Wiser, Livelier Seniors. While there isn’t a specific age, OWLS are smart, energetic folks, who want to stay in contact with others, make new friends, and who enjoy spending time in nature. OWLS need not be rugged campers and hikers: it’s enough to be interested in the green and natural areas of our world. Polk Country Conservation hosts programs on the first Tuesday of each month, to bring likeminded OWLS together.
What’s Happening for OWLS in July?
On Tuesday, July 3, OWLS can convene to hear stories from the Appalachian Trail, from three retirees who planned and executed a hiking adventure. These retirees experienced the beauty of the trail, along with discovering things about the history and background of the trail and the areas it passes through. Attendees will learn from firsthand accounts of meal planning, trail adventures, what to wear and how to plan a trip along the Appalachian Trail. (Your Ankeny, IA family dentist strong suggests the importance of maintaining excellent toothbrushing and flossing habits, even when on the AT or otherwise away from home.)
