In a feat of deliciously unplanned scheduling, this year’s Fat Tuesday and National Pancake Day are both falling on this Tuesday, February 25th, 2020! National Pancake Day
While National Pancake Day really is a nationally recognized holiday, if you recognize the day, it is likely because of IHOP. This chain restaurant has a reputation for being the place to go for pancakes of all kinds, and they have a location right here in Ankeny, located at 2402 SE Delaware Ave, Ankeny, IA. This year, IHOP is celebrating National Pancake Day in a big way: free pancakes all day!
The free pancake deal starts at 7 AM on Tuesday the 25th, and it will include one free short stack of buttermilk pancakes per person, making it a great way to start or end your Fat Tuesday. You can find out more information on the IHOP website.
Fat Tuesday
While Fat Tuesday is traditionally a religious celebration along with Mardi Gras, these days it is celebrated by people across all different religions and cultures. Perhaps most notably in our community, it will be celebrated this year by Whiskey River Ankeny, a local bar with a rooftop patio and delicious food. Whiskey River will be bringing New Orleans to Ankeny starting at 6 PM on Tuesday the 25th and ending at 2 AM the following morning. They will be serving jello shots, purple beer, and jambalaya, handing out party favors, and hosting live music from The Punching Pandas, so it’s sure to be a fun time.
