Dental Bridges: Questions We Get Quite A Lot!

Are you thinking that what you need for your partial tooth loss might be a dental bridge? However, since you don’t know much about bridges, you are having a hard time identifying what makes them unique, whether you’re a candidate, and more? As you might imagine, many patients find themselves in the same boat! We will be happy to shed light on the important facts you’re looking for, so you can begin more seriously asking yourself whether it just might be time for a bridge!

Questions and Answers

Question: Is a dental bridge the same thing as a partial denture or is there something different about these prosthetic devices?

Answer: These are different devices. They both do provide help for partial tooth loss. However, a bridge is fixed (bonded in place), while the partial is removable. The bridge replaces only up to three missing teeth that are placed consecutively. A partial can address more than three teeth and they can be sporadically placed.

Question: Will a dental bridge work if I am missing a couple teeth but there is a tooth between those spaces? What types of tooth loss can a bridge replace?

Answer: As mentioned, this will not work if you want a bridge. What we mean by consecutively placed is that you may be missing one tooth, two teeth next to each other, or three teeth that are all in a row. Otherwise, the bridge (which is one single continuous unit) will not work for you.

Question: Is a dental bridge going to look extremely obvious?

Answer: No! With the use of beautiful, modern prosthetics, we will create a bridge for your smile that fits beautifully, that is in balance with your bite, and that looks lifelike. Expect it to blend, so it simply appears that you have your complete smile back.
