What Is The Gatsby Gala
The Gatsby Gala is a dance event sponsored by Step Into Swing, a local swing dancing performance group and club. Before the dance officially starts, Step Into Swing is offering a free 30 minute lesson on how to dance the Charleston, which is sure to get you in the mood to have a swinging time. This event is great for all experience levels, and you can come by yourself, with your partner, or with friends, as swing is a social dance. Free beer, wine, and snacks will be served as you take pictures in their photo booth and dance the night away to the live music of Diva and the Deacons, featuring singer Tina Haase Findlay. She describes her music as, “Blues, rock and soul meets jazz, jam and gospel- with theatre, jingles, ragtime and whatever the heck we feel like throwing in,” so it’s sure to be a fun night!
Where and When Is It Taking Place?
The Gatsby Gala will be held this Saturday, January 18th, 2020, from 8 PM (7:30 if you want to get in on the free Charleston lesson) to 11 PM at Mainframe Studios in downtown Des Moines, IA, at 900 Keosauqua Way.
There is parking available in the lower level of the covered parking lot, and overflow parking at the corner of 12th and Center Street. If needed, additional parking will be available south of the building’s atrium entrance.
