Tooth Sensitivity: 3 Steps

Are you suffering from tooth sensitivity? If so, you experience sudden discomfort due to changes in your mouth. For instance, your teeth may feel a sudden rush of pain when you bite into something cold. Drinking something hot may make your smile feel uncomfortable. Or, you may find that general chewing and brushing feels less than ideal. Whatever the case, we encourage you to follow three helpful steps to deal with this concern.

Step #1: Review Your Dental Hygiene Habits

Take a look at the products you are using and ask yourself about your habits. This may provide you with the key to what’s causing your tooth sensitivity. If you use harsh products (firm bristles instead of the recommended soft bristles on your toothbrush, abrasive toothpaste, or OTC teeth whitening) then this may be the problem. You may switch to the suggested items (and avoid home whitening) to see if the problem improves. We suggest toothpaste for sensitivity for additional relief. Also, make sure you use a gentle touch when you brush.

Step #2: Review Your Dental Health

Have you been diagnosed with an issue like bruxism? If so, are you using your treatment on a nightly basis? Have you been told that you need restorative care, such as a filling for tooth decay? Have you followed through? If you are letting your dental care needs fall by the wayside, get back on track to alleviate tooth sensitivity.
